FAQ for pet portraits

What is the processing time for each portrait?

Processing time depends mostly on the size of the portrait. A 5"x7" takes 3-4 days, an 8"x10" takes 5-7 days, and an 11"x14" or 20"x24" takes about 7-10 days. If portraits are needed by a specific deadline, feel free to write lara@unsketch.com to make sure they will be completed.

Are Prints available?

We offer prints of many of our past portraits, or of a custom portrait you have commissioned. You can check out some of our available prints on our shop page, or contact us if you see one you like but isn't listed.

Are custom sizes available?

Yes! Any size, up to 20"x24" can be done. Just send us a message, and we'll get back to you about pricing and processing time.

What pictures will work?

The best pictures are good quality close ups of the pet. These allow as much detail as possible to be seen and transferred to the portrait. It also helps if there is a simple background, so it doesn't distract from the pet. If you aren't sure if the picture will work or not, send it to photos@unsketch.com, and we'll let you know!

How are portraits shipped?

This unique art form is pretty fragile, so that's a common question we are asked. We ship all our portraits framed, to protect them from damage. We also thoroughly cushion them with packing material, making for flawless transportation.

Can you do multiple pets in one portrait?

While multiple pets can be done, we prefer to do one pet per portrait. This keeps the focus clear, and makes detail easier to see.

Can you do pets with dark fur?

Since scratchboard starts out black, we often get asked if black or dark fur is even possible on scratchboard. As long as the picture has good lighting, it is definitely possible! The silver sheen dark fur gives off under lighting is beautifully captured by this medium, and the pets features stand out stunningly.
